Highlights
- Western Star Resources Inc. (CSE: WSR; OTC: WSRIF; FRA: 4K2) has outlined a planned six-hole, roughly 3,050-foot (930-meter) drill program at its past-producing Rowland Tungsten Property in Elko County, Nevada.
- The holes will test two targets, Rowland Main and Northern Zone B, where tungsten-in-soil anomalies overlie historical workings and modeled magnetic bodies.
No new assay results were reported, drilling has not started, and the program still needs U.S. Forest Service and Nevada permits.
Western Star Resources Inc. (CSE: WSR; OTC: WSRIF; FRA: 4K2) has picked where it wants to drill at Rowland, a past-producing tungsten property it owns outright in Elko County, Nevada. The company laid out the plan in an October 13, 2026 news release. Six holes. About 3,050 feet (930 meters) in total, drilled from four pads.
No rig is turning yet. Permits come first, and the hole locations are still preliminary.
Why Tungsten, Why Now
Tungsten is dense, extremely hard and holds up under heat, which is why it ends up in cutting tools, drill bits and armor-piercing ammunition. China dominates global supply.
That dependence now has a hard date attached. Starting January 1, 2027, U.S. defense procurement rules (known as DFARS) bar contractors from delivering tungsten metal powder or tungsten heavy alloy that was mined, refined or produced in China, Russia, Iran or North Korea, subject to limited exceptions. Juniors holding old U.S. tungsten ground, Western Star among them, increasingly frame their work around that deadline.
Two Targets, Six Holes
The company built its targets by layering four datasets: 2026 soil sampling, a drone-flown magnetic survey, historical workings mapped this season, and previously released rock-chip and channel assays.
Rowland Main gets four holes and 1,850 feet. Three fan out from a single pad beside a historical open cut. Rock-chip, float and channel samples there returned up to 4.02% WO₃ (tungsten trioxide, the standard unit for tungsten grades). Those samples were selectively collected from exposed rock, so they confirm tungsten is present without saying anything about average grade.
The fourth hole, ROW26-04, is collared about 250 meters to the southwest. It will drill up-slope from soil sample R079, which returned 4,240 ppm tungsten (0.53% WO₃), the best value from the Phase 2 soil program. Soil readings reflect tungsten scattered at surface. The company says they should not be read as grade.
Northern Zone B takes the remaining two holes and 1,200 feet. Both go beneath historical shafts and an ore chute, where rock chips ran 0.35% to 1.22% WO₃. Deeper down sits a larger modeled magnetic body whose top is estimated at roughly 165 to 210 meters below surface. ROW26-05, the longest hole at 700 feet, is designed to reach it at about 159 meters down-hole.
How the Magnetic Model Fits In
East Coast Consulting converted the drone survey into a 3D model showing how magnetic the rock is underground. Western Star is drilling where those modeled bodies coincide with tungsten in soil or old mine workings. Models like this are interpretations. Drilling may hit the contacts at different depths or positions than predicted.
Permits and Technical Sign-Off
KC Harvey Environmental is preparing a Plan of Operations for the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. A reclamation permit from the Nevada Bureau of Mining Regulation and Reclamation is moving in parallel. All four pads sit on existing roads and trails.
CEO and President Blake Morgan said one field season took Rowland from a historical record pointing to a single producing zone to three zones of confirmed workings and a ranked target list. He added that drilling at the company’s Eagle Point Tungsten Project in New Mexico is getting close.
Western Star has not reported a mineral resource estimate at Rowland. The technical content in the release was approved by Jasper Mowatt, MIMMM, MAusIMM, a consultant and Qualified Person under Canada’s NI 43-101 rules. The company states he is not independent of Western Star.
Two Paid Promotion Deals
The same release disclosed that Western Star has hired PanAm Marketing Inc. for digital investor awareness. It is paying CAD $60,000 in cash for a campaign expected to run from about October 15 to November 15, 2026, then month-to-month. PanAm receives no shares or options, and the company says PanAm holds none.
A second deal surfaced in a sponsored article distributed October 13 by Mining Stocks. That piece disclosed that its joint-venture partner, Market Equities Limited, is being paid US$100,000 by Western Star under an investor awareness agreement dated September 11, 2026. It also said Market Equities and its affiliates hold Western Star shares they may sell at any time.
Readers may see a run of paid Western Star content in the coming weeks. Both arrangements are between Western Star and outside firms. Neither involves Mining Markets Report.
