Endeavour Silver Corp. (TSX: EDR; NYSE: EXK) plans to restart its Terronera mine in Mexico on Aug. 24 after a blockade that halted operations for nearly two weeks was removed.
The company announced the blockade’s removal on Aug. 23. Operations had been suspended since Aug. 12, although a reduced workforce remained at the site to perform maintenance and protect the property.
Twelve-Day Suspension
Endeavour described the blockade as illegal and said it involved members of a nearby Ejido community. According to the company, participants raised concerns about road maintenance, assistance with medical services and communications, access to the local water supply, and increased financial support.
The blockade remained peaceful and orderly. Endeavour said on Aug. 20 that discussions with Ejido representatives were continuing in a cordial and respectful manner.
The company’s latest announcement did not disclose whether the parties reached a formal agreement or whether Endeavour made any new financial or operational commitments. It also did not quantify the production or financial impact of the suspension.
Endeavour said it would continue working with the Ejido community to support stable, long-term operations at Terronera.
Terronera’s Role in 2026
Terronera entered commercial production on Oct. 1, 2025, making it Endeavour’s newest operating mine. During the second quarter of 2026, the operation produced 608,347 ounces of silver and 7,666 ounces of gold.
Before the disruption, Endeavour expected Terronera to produce between 2.4 million and 2.6 million ounces of silver and between 35,000 and 36,000 ounces of gold during 2026. Planned throughput was between 1,950 and 2,050 tonnes per day.
The company had also expected to access higher-grade areas during the second half of the year as underground development advanced. Terronera’s liquefied natural gas power plant was commissioned in June, while the wider mine complex was scheduled to continue ramping up through the third quarter.
Endeavour has not said whether the suspension will affect those production targets. It also has not indicated whether the scheduled restart will immediately restore full operating capacity.
Community Relations Remain a Key Factor
Removal of the blockade clears an immediate obstacle for Terronera, but the limited disclosure leaves several operational questions unanswered. Confirmation of the restart, the pace of the production ramp-up, and any revision to 2026 guidance will provide a clearer measure of the disruption’s effect.
Continued engagement with the Ejido community will also remain important as Endeavour works to stabilize operations at one of its principal growth assets.
